Professional skin care and education are extremely important for all ages. All treatments are customized for each patient, making sure the specific needs are treated, therefore achieving maximum, professional results. Safety is our first priority, making sure there are no contraindications and that the patient is an ideal candidate for the treatment selected. We enjoy long term relationships where we are able to customize skin care as skin undergoes changes through the years. Everyone has unique skin and no two treatments are exactly alike.

Tessa Nagel is our skin care professional. She is a Licensed Medical Aesthetician and is certified in laser as well as IPL (Intense Pulse Light) treatments. As part of her contribution to our team, she works in conjunction with Dr. Malek to counsel patient’s pre and post surgery, educating them about the importance of skin care and maintenance to maximize results. She and Dr. Malek also work with non-surgical patients to enable them to postpone surgical procedures as long as possible

Skin Care Products

We carry several different skin care lines such as SkinCeuticals, Skin Medica, Obagi, Jan Marini, and Clayton Shagal so that we can address everyone’s specific needs. All lines carried in our office are medical grade ensuring the highest amounts of active ingredients. OTC (over the counter) skin care may have some of the same ingredients as medical grade skin care, but not the quanity or quality. There are three “must haves” in skin care.

A cleanser, moisturizer, and sun block are essential. Treatments should be done in conjunction with your homecare regime to have beautiful skin. Monthly maintenance with a professional is key to anti-aging. It is our goal to create a relationship with every patient and to help them look and feel their best.

We also offer Clarisonic MD, a specialized skin care brush that uses a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth your skin. In just 60 seconds a day, the Clarisonic micro-massage action cleans more than twice as effectively as manual cleansing. It offers a safe, gentle and natural way to cleanse your skin without any harsh abrasion or chemicals.

Revitalash stimulates eyelash and eyebrow growth - one of the casualties of aging, becoming thinner and sparse over time. Patients find that initial results are visible as soon as 1 to 2 weeks of evening use. Measurable differences are visible after 3 weeks. These results are superior to eyelash extensions, which can be very costly and short-lived.

Revitalash is applied like eyeliner with a brush. Brush it onto the roots of lashes liberally every night. It goes on clear and dries soon after application. No matter what shape your eyelashes and eyebrows are in (short, sparse or even with missing sections), Revitalash will give you the eyelashes and eyebrows of your dreams.

Fractional Laser

The Palomar 1540 Fractional Laser is our newest treatment, and it produces phenomenal results! This is a revolutionary treatment for non-ablative skin resurfacing and tightening with high efficacy and no down time. The Fractional laser penetrates deeper than other devices (up to 1mm), reaching the dermis. This approach stimulates quick healing with no lasting redness.

This is excellent for deep lines and wrinkles and pitted scaring. Other skin resurfacing devices such as co2 lasers are very ablative and remove the epidermis as well as some of the dermis. Good results are seen in the long run however, there is a risk of infection for several weeks while the skin is healing. During the treatments you will use a collagen gel to boost collagen production. When complete, the skin looks tighter and brighter and rejuvenated!

Photofacial

This professional treatment uses the Palomar Starlux system to correct sun damage, broken capillaries, and rosacea. The handpiece emits pulses of light that targets the spots or vessels that need correction and give the skin a rejuvenated and glowing look. This treatment can be done on most skin types and on most areas of the body.

It greatly improves the look, feel and texture of your skin and stimulates collagen. Pores and fine lines will be minimized and lessened because of collagen stimulation. A series of five treatments is recommended for best results. This regimen includes microdermabrasion which greatly compliments photofacial treatments.

Laser Hair Removal

A professional treatment that achieves 80% permanent hair reduction. The Palomar Starlux system is the newest technology and is much more comfortable and produces better results than earlier systems. Areas most commonly treated are face, underarms, abdomen, bikini, legs and back.

Most patients will have minimal redness and tenderness for a short time after treatment. This usually lasts a day and does not interfere with daily activities. Six to eight treatments are needed for best results.

Microdermabrasion

This treatment is designed to resurface the skin using a safe, non-surgical procedure by a professional. This treatment is commonly used for blackheads, whiteheads, fine lines, wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, acne prone skin, superficial age spots, oily and dry skin. Microdermabrasion also stimulates the underlying epidermis, promoting new collagen which helps to keep the skin thick and lessens the signs of aging.

This treatment can be combined with light chemical peels and facials for excellent results. The procedure takes about 45 minutes and many notice an immediate improvement in their skin. This treatment is an excellent maintenance system and is offered either individually or in packages to maximize results.

Chemical Peels

There are a wide variety of chemical peels, ranging from very mild to very invasive. A series of peels is the most common form of treatment. Peels are used to treat acne, some hyperpigmentation, fine lines and improve overall skin texture. Before your peel, avoid sun exposure and any topical retinoids.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women and patients who have taken Acuctane within the last year should avoid chemical peels. After a peel, you should not do strenuous exercise as the skin may be irritated from perspiration.

Your home care should be very gentle, not using any vitamin C products, retinoids or scrubs for a week. It is very important not to force or help your skin to peel faster. To avoid rashes or scarring, it is best to keep your skin calm with a mild moisturizer. Most peels can be used on all skin types.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is used to treat deep acne scars and “skim” from the surface layers of skin that surround the craters or other facial blemishes. Dermaplaning can be performed on small areas of skin or on the entire face and can be used alone or in conjunction with other procedures.
